The CDC is involved in a number of projects that benefit the overall economic welfare and potential of the
region as well as several individual communities.
Tourism development in the Quaboag region has been a combined project of the CDC and the Q uaboag Valley
Chamber of Commerce. Using grants from the Massachusetts Turnpike Authority and the Massachusetts Office of
Travel and Tourism, the Tourism Partnership has developed a website,
Quaboag.com, an annual Quaboag Hills guide, forty (40)
Tourism Display Racks throughout the region and other pieces of promotional literature. In addition, six
communities have completed the
partnership-sponsored Tourism Enterprise Zone (TEZ) development.
The CDC has developed a database of commercial/industrial properties within the region. Residents or
developers are welcome to access the database.
In the town of Spencer, the CDC has assisted the Boys and Girls Club of Western Worcester County
in their search for a new location. Originally focused on the David Prouty Middle School building, the CDC
assisted the B&G Club to find an architect and do a feasability study on reuse of the building for
their purposes.
